Members
All members of the Rural Coalition are nonprofit organizations under IRS regulations Sec. 501-c-3, banding together to advocate for better and increased housing opportunities for citizens living in rural Georgia communities.
What do they do?
Speaking with one voice, these committed groups provide policy direction, conduct training, provide peer-to-peer consulting, engage in research, and partner with public, private, and philanthropic sectors to strengthen rural communities.
How are they managed?
Each member is an independently run community-based, state-chartered corporation under the governance of local boards of directors and managed by professional staff.
How are they supported?
Each organization raises or earns its own funds to deliver services. Funds come from earned income (e.g. development fees, rent, property management, etc.), from philanthropic sources, from individuals, and private or public grants. Contributions and investments are welcome, and are tax deductible to the donor.
Are these groups professional?
Each are conducted as businesses and meet reporting requirements of donors and governmental agencies. They operate on business plans and conduct annual audits. Their mission is to serve the public, not to make money for stockholders or owners.
