Metro Fair Housing Services, with the financial support of A. G. Spanos Companies, convened a panel of experts representing a broad range of industries and backgrounds to evaluate the housing of people with disabilities, review existing research, and explore best practices in Georgia and other states. G-STAND was pleased to be a part of this panel of experts and to contribute to the resulting report: “
Shut Out, Priced Out and Segregated: The Need for Fair Housing for People with Disabilities.”. G-STAND encourages all nonprofit affordable housing developers to read this report and carefully consider how to implement the applicable recommendations. As Joseph Frazier, President of Metro Fair Housing, points out, “Developing a system of accessible, affordable, and integrated housing is possible, but only if all stakeholders get involved.” Nonprofits created to provide affordable housing to meet community needs should be in the vanguard of making such housing accessible.
